Cosmetic injection therapies, such as Botox and dermal fillers, remain among the most popular minimally invasive procedures for patients seeking to use their benefits for facial rejuvenation or therapeutic purposes. According to Plastic Surgery Statistics, Over four million patients received Botulinum toxin (Botox and Dysport) while three million got dermal filler treatment in 2020 alone.

Registered medical professionals, like doctors and dentists, are becoming more inspired to invest their time, money, and energy in an in-depth dental filler and Botox training for dentists because of the assurance of a consistently growing number of patients interested in experiencing its undeniable anti-aging benefits first hand on top of the professional and personal fulfillment of learning a new skill and keeping up to date with the latest in the world of medical aesthetics.

APT Injection Training, an internationally recognized teaching facility, brings you an extensive selection of advanced training and certification courses on Botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatments for physicians and other licensed healthcare professionals. One of these includes a sophisticated and intensive training course on the aesthetic use of toxin and dermal fillers for dentists and dental surgeons.

Botox and Dermal Filler Applications in Dentistry

Today, more dentists want to include dental Botox and dermal filler injection treatments in their practices to provide their patients with much-needed relief from underlying Bruxism and, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder.

Research suggests that Botox shows promising results in treating nocturnal Bruxism or teeth grinding at night when minute doses are injected directly into the masseter muscles.

Many dentists also administer Botox and soft tissue filler injections to complement cosmetic dentistry, particularly for lip enhancement, “gummy smile” and marionette lines and jowls due to aging.

Different provinces and their regulatory Colleges have different regulations for which toxin and dermal filler injections fall within the scope of practice of dentistry. It is important , before registering for the course, to verify which procedures fall within your specific scope of practice given the province in which you practice.

Dermal Fillers & Botulinum Toxin Training for Dentists

A comprehensive 1-day training course that gives students an intensive learning experience in a small class (2:1 Trainee: Trainer ratio) with actual demonstrations by experienced injectors and hands-on training on how to safely administer Botox and other cosmetic injections on real patients. It’s the perfect course for dentists interested in adding Botulinum toxin and lip filler treatments for both therapeutic and cosmetic purposes to their scope of practice.

In this Botox training for dentists, students are provided with extensive pre-course material about the pharmacology of Botulinum toxin and soft tissue fillers treatment — including their indications and contraindications, potential side effects, pain management, dilution (neurotoxin) and appropriate injection methods for both. In addition, complication overview and treatments protocol, as well as all relevant anatomy, will be covered. This specific part of our Botox training course can be accessed and taken online.

Meanwhile, the actual training day (9.5 hours duration) begins with a lecture reviewing critical information, a demonstration of the procedures on a live model by a certified Botox injector, followed by hands-on injecting of live models. Expect to see 5-7 patients.

Dentists who are interested in taking this particular Botox injection course may bring their own patients. Please contact our office for further details.
